Welcome to My Treasuring Chest!

The goal of this site is to help you build happier and healthier relationships by opening your heart to treasure those that you love.

A Treasuring Chest is different from a pirate's treasure chest. A pirate's treasure chest contained gold, jewels, and money stolen from someone else. Pirates hoarded treasure chests, locking up the valuables and burying them to keep the treasure away from others.

A Treasuring Chest is meant to give to others. A Treasuring Chest contains memories, sentiments and symbols of the love you give. A Treasuring Chest is something that holds what you give away to those who are close to you. The love that you give becomes a treasure to others.

Dr. Stephen Covey popularized the notion of making deposits in an "emotional bank account" to building trust and love in relationships. A deposit is any kind word or action that builds trust and respect. The more deposits we make, the greater the love, trust and respect. If we do the opposite, make withdrawals, we become emotional pirates who steal love from others by creating feelings of lack and limitation. And, if we do nothing, we have an empty chest, a hollow heart and an unfulfilled life.

This site offers a variety of resources to those with a parenting influence with children and teens to help them build self esteem, self respect and self confidence. It takes a family to raise a child, including parents and adult relatives, teachers, coaches and friends of the family.  Wise parents, both moms and dads, take care to make sure that each family member is valued and feels at home. By intentionally opening your heart to treasure your children and teens, you will build a lifetime of love that will make you proud of your family.
