Six Work Thoughts f...
By Dave Pipitone

Have you ever had words with someone? Have you been on the receiving end? What kind of words were they?

Kind, loving words can encourage a child to excel, a marriage to prosper, a life to soar. Unkind words can devastate morale, destroy confidence and imprison a person or community in hate, fear and doubt.

Words are at the heart of relationships. Use them to treasure and reap a rich life; trash others and make life unbearable. Words can bless; words can curse.

The words we use to talk to God, to ourselves, and to others reveal what is inside of our hearts. The words that God speaks with humanity reveal what is inside of God's heart.

The goal of this site is to help you build happier and healthier relationships by opening your heart to treasure those that you love.

A Treasuring Chest is different from a pirate's treasure chest. A pirate's treasure chest contained gold, jewels, and money stolen from someone else. Pirates hoarded treasure chests, locking up the valuables and burying them to keep the treasure away from others.

A Treasuring Chest is meant to give to others. A Treasuring Chest contains memories, sentiments and symbols of the love you give. A Treasuring Chest is something that holds what you give away to those who are close to you. The love that you give becomes a treasure to others.

Dr. Stephen Covey popularized the notion of making deposits in an "emotional bank account" to building trust and love in relationships. A deposit is any kind word or action that builds trust and respect. The more deposits we make, the greater the love, trust and respect.

If we do the opposite, make withdrawals, we become emotional pirates who steal love from others by creating feelings of lack and limitation. And, if we do nothing, we have an empty chest, a hollow heart and an unfulfilled life.

Use the resources on this site to become a treasuring person. Take the first step to treasure God, yourself and others:

  • Use thankful words to honor God
  • Give affirming words to the wonderful you
  • Share encouraging words with others

You can make the world a better place - one relationship, one person at a time. Help others build self esteem, self respect and self confidence. It takes a community to treasure individuals and individuals to become a treasuring people. By intentionally opening your heart to treasure God, yourself and others, you will build a lifetime of happiness that will make your days full of meaning and joy.
